Funky Title

A R T I S T    B I O

My name is Levi, I am a Brisbane emerging outsider artist. I am a twin and proud to be from a family lineage of artisans. My sister and I were born very premature at just 26 weeks and from that trauma i have been faced with many challenges that altered my course of what is called a "normal" childhood. Faced with many therapies, medical procedures and  operations, i have tried not to let my situation get a hold on me. Mind you, i have battled with anxiety at times and feeling down, but i think this is sort of a normal for kids growing up these days.

As far as I can remember I have been making art with different media to express my feelings, toward my life experiences and to render my imaginings.  A lot of the time I use a naive style with  humour and quirkiness to illustrate some of my personal and family life; the good. the bad and the confusing.  While art helps me to express myself and recount personal experiences, it also illustrates my life as a female emerging artist with a disability, which in turn, hopefully creates an awareness of Outsider Art to the public and other women in similar situations.

I enjoy experimenting with various media but i am keen on drawing as i feel it is a perfect way for me to develop all of my art projects.  It would be great if through my art and disability awareness, and how they work together to helps me and also helps to show other disadvantaged people how art could help them as a therapy, purpose and motivation as it helped me. Art plays an important role in my life.

As an emerging artist i am excited about my future art development as an exhibiting artist /illustrator and author.  I am working on a series of autobiographical picture books that I plan to publish; which will illustrate my life and different characters,

I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated with art and the visual world. You could say my career began when, at the age of 12, I picked up a can of spray paint and got into tagging and graffiti. By 15 I was doing commissioned graffiti murals and prints for family, friends, and some businesses too. In high school I moved to the world of digital design, in college found further inspiration in geometric shapes, bright colors and material design.

Currently my primary focus is realistic and stylized rendering for print and video. In my designs, I enjoy exploring with reflections, material textures, lights and shadows that interact with each other in a playful way. I draw inspirations from candy, glassblowing, and neon street signs. I welcome you to peruse my most recent projects on my site, or contact me to inquire regarding my availability.
